Layla Hologram Effect Ultra Violet Swatches & Review
Hey everyone!
After my Pink Wednesday post featuring Layla Hologram Effects Retro Pink, I wanted to continue showing the other polishes in the collection.

Next up is Ultra Violet—more pictures after the jump!

I love all colors but purple is one I especially love. Ultra Violet is a cool-toned light purple and very holographic. It seems like these Layla Hologram polishes have a smooth, linear holo but not as smooth as the linear holos in China Glaze OMG collection. The effect looks very similar to GOSH holographic from the comparisons and swatches I’ve seen online. It’s almost as if an OMG holo mated with a China Glaze Kaleidoscope holo and the baby took after the OMG holo more. What makes these Layla Hologram polishes even more awesome than your average holo is on most of the ones I’ve tried, the hologram effect is apparent even indoors in both bright and low fluorescent lighting. For the record, my pictures are with three coats although two coats probably would have done it.

And finally, here is a super close-up. Are you freaking out yet?
I should also mention a nail buffer is offered as a separate purchase for this collection—Layla’s Hologram Effect Base File. It’s a two sided flat buffer that you’re supposed to use instead of a base coat. I didn’t have the file in the beginning so I used a regular four sided buffing block. If you have ridges on your nails especially more noticeable ones, I would definitely suggest using some kind of buffer as these will show everything.
I don’t have any aqua base coats so I can’t speak to whether the base file is better than a base coat specifically for holos. The surface of my nails are still pretty smooth from the last time I used the buffing block but I plan on doing a comparison of my natural untouched nail, using the Hologram Effect Base File and my drugstore buffing block.
Despite the first coat being a teensy bit difficult to apply, I love Ultra Violet. The result is completely worth the effort. The only drawback (and this goes for the rest of the collection) is the $15.50 price tag and the 10ml in each bottle. Even with the price I plan on getting backups because these are just way too good to pass up!
